What’s the deal?
Berlin music-services company 99Solutions has acquired full ownership of HÖR, the livestream platform whose bathroom-tiled booth has been a fixture of the city’s underground since 2019. Per Resident Advisor, 99Solutions plans to keep HÖR running as an independent brand while investing in its infrastructure and bolting on label operations, publishing, bookings and partnerships.
Why HÖR matters
For six years HÖR’s tiled room has been one of the most reliable shop windows for the deep, minimal and tech-house underground, a place where an unknown selector could play to a global audience overnight. Its reach is exactly why a music-services company would want it: the platform is a discovery funnel with a built-in audience.
The catch
The acquisition lands after a turbulent stretch, HÖR has faced boycotts and content removals over how it handled geopolitical statements. Adding a label and publishing arm means the platform that breaks DJs could now sign them, turning tastemaking into a booth-to-business pipeline. The interesting part is who that pipeline ends up paying.
