Instead it has been Jon George and James Hunt alone behind the decks, running extended DJ sets that Ibiza Spotlight described as revealing "another dimension of their ever-dynamic artistry", while Tyrone Lindqvist sits the format out entirely. The run closes this coming Tuesday, July 28, with Disclosure taking the booth.
Why ditch the band format for a residency at all?
RÜFÜS DU SOL are not new to DJing. Jon George and James Hunt have quietly built out DJ bookings across 2026 in Tulum, Argentina, Brazil and Dubai, running parallel to the trio's arena and festival headline tour. Pacha, though, is a different proposition: a room with fifty-plus years of house history, currently running a resident roster that includes CamelPhat on Tuesdays, Sonny Fodera on Mondays and Solomun on Sundays. Booking a live act's DJ side into that slot is a statement about where the club thinks the format sits, not a novelty support slot.
The guest list backs that up. Romy opened the residency on July 7, ANOTR and Jimi Jules shared the booth on July 14, Jimi Jules returned solo on July 21, and Disclosure closes it on the 28th. None of those names need the exposure and none of them are EDM-adjacent bookings picked for name recognition alone: Jimi Jules is an Innervisions regular, ANOTR have built their own deep, groove-first catalogue, and Disclosure have spent a decade moving fluidly between pop production and house DJing. A band known for festival mainstage sets and Grammy-nominated albums taking a Tuesday slot at one of house music's most storied rooms can read as tourism, borrowing the scene's credibility for four nights without doing the work that built it. The counter-argument is in the details: this is a working residency, not a one-off cameo, running the same peak-season slot format as Pacha's actual resident DJs, at the same 23:00 to 06:00 hours, with guests drawn from house and techno's actual talent pool rather than the festival circuit RÜFÜS DU SOL usually shares a bill with.
