New Prime Minister Andy Burnham has cut business rates by 20% for nearly 32,000 pubs, clubs and live music venues in England from April 2027, but the relief excludes the largest venues and lands after Music Venue Trust reported 30 grassroots venues closed in 2025.
A voluntary £1 charge on arena and stadium tickets is meant to refill the grassroots circuit. If adoption misses 50% by June 30, the UK government says it will legislate, and Live Nation is the named holdout.
