Most labels announce a summer campaign with a sizzle reel and a guest mix. Devianza Records did it by putting a track called "Fuck The VIP" in its catalogue. The Italian imprint, run by Gianluca Motta, Alex Satry and Nunzio Santagata, is building a deliberately anti-elitist tech house catalogue and pointing it at the one market that usually stands for the opposite: Ibiza.

What does Devianza Records actually stand for?

The pitch is anti-gatekeeping and anti-trend, and the founders say it plainly. "We want to be free and try to create today what will be liked tomorrow, without rules and 'trends'," reads their stated line. They are careful to add that this is not a war on pop; it is a refusal to chase whatever the floor wanted last season.

The "Fuck The VIP" track, a Gianluca Motta and Alex Satry cut, is the thesis statement. The title is doing the obvious work, but the point underneath is about who clubbing is for. In a season where Ibiza headlines are about table minimums and guestlists, a label putting that phrase on a record is making a position, not just a joke.

What does the music sound like?

This is club tech house and house, engineered for a system rather than a playlist. The releases sit mostly between 125 and 130 BPM, the working range for a peak-time Ibiza room. The current run includes "This Is a Bomb" by Gaty Lopez at 130, "All Around The World" by Lino Di Meglio at 125, "Black Dog Dreams" by Simo Wild at 127, and "Bond's Groove" by Manomic.

An anti-VIP record only means something if the groove can actually clear a main room. On tempo and intent, these are built to.

Can an anti-VIP label really work in Ibiza?

That is the open question. Ibiza's economics run on exactly the VIP culture Devianza is needling, and plenty of "underground" branding on the island is marketing rather than practice. The tell will be the bookings. If these records land in rooms that actually program them at peak time, the stance has teeth. If they stay on the curated playlists like "This is Gianluca Motta," it is a nice sentiment with a good kick drum.
