What is 'If This Is It'?
DJ Seinfeld, the Malmo producer born Armand Jakobsson, dropped his third album on Ninja Tune on June 5. Twelve tracks, and almost none of them sound like the lo-fi house that made his name a decade ago. There is nostalgic, big-eyed house in here, plenty of UK garage swing, and a real run at the kind of 2000s trance most cool kids pretend they never loved. He started writing it the same week his 2021 album 'Mirrors' came out, then spent years circling the thing until it took shape.
Who is on it?
The guest list reads like a pop record more than a club record, which is the point. SG Lewis turns up on 'Something That I've Never Known', Confidence Man bring their deadpan disco-pop to 'The Right', and TS Graye sings on 'U Can't Come Home'. Dan Whitlam takes the title track, with ARY, Moyka and just lil filling out the rest of the twelve.

Why does it hit differently?
The whole album is about burnout and motion: a man who lives on planes, trying to turn years of low-grade anxiety into something like acceptance. Jakobsson got filed under lo-fi house in 2016 next to Ross From Friends and Mall Grab, a tag that was always half meme. He has spent every record since outrunning it. 'If This Is It' is the clearest sign yet that he is gone for good, and that the dusty bedroom-house kid grew into a proper songwriter.
